최근 업데이트가 된 ITune7.0이 1418이라는 에러를 발생시킨다는 정보가 있더군요.
아무래도 그 에러에 제 Ipod Shuffle이 당한 듯 합니다.
구버젼의 아이튠을 이용해 노래를 업로드했었는데, 다른컴퓨터에서 노래를 업로드 해야하다 보니 새로운 버젼인 아이튠 7.0을 설치하게 됐습니다. 셔플을 꽂은뒤 아이튠 7.0을 실행했더니, 바로 조금 전까지 셔플을 잘만 인식하던 컴퓨터가 셔플을 인식하지 못하더군요.
셔플의 용량은 0바이트였습니다. 애플사도 아직 이문제의 원인을 모른다고 하던데..
이거 원인이나 해결책을 모른다면 1418의 피해자는 리콜이라도 받아야하지 않나요?

I upgraded to ITunes 7 which promptly killed my Shuffle. What is Apple doing about this? Now them locked discussions about this and no other posts are allowed. What is going on, some sort of conspiracy? Suppression of some sort? Apple should take notice.

iPod Shuffle Woes: Unknown Error 1418

Some iPod Shuffle owners are quite upset about the seemingly inconsistent but dreaded “Unknown Error 1418″ that apparently spells death for the iPod. Apple’s Discussion Boards have been flaming about the issue for over a month. The problem doesn’t seem to be going away either, despite Apple’s efforts to lock certain threads on the topic, like this one.
It is not entirely clear what is causing Error 1418, but some users are blaming the iTunes and iPod firmware updates. The Apple Discussion Board user salty42 describes the problem:
Flashing amber/green lights. Won’t restore, 1418 error. And I/O error in windows.
and then goes on with his experience contacting Apple, who suggested he buy a new Shuffle:
I called Apple Tech Support. They said I was outside of my warranty so they were limited without charging me. After I told him my problems, he said, “That sounds like a hardware issue. You would need to bring/send it in to be serviced. Service fees will be almost as much as a new iPod, not counting any extra charges for parts. Have you heard that we just released a new iPod Shuffle yesterday? Its 1GB and is the smallest MP3 player to date, only $89 brand new. So you may want to think about getting a new one.
The user salty42 actually has a conspiracy theory, I’m sure you could guess what it is. A search for “error 1418″ on Apple’s Discussion Boards reveals 322 search results and many threads on the topic. I personally hated the iPod Shuffle and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, just put out the extra money and get a Nano or Video.
