Description
 
The Stinger™ LS is a high-capacity, asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) standards-based access concentrator for DSL services. The Stinger LS chassis models 1 and 2 are smaller versions of the original Stinger FS chassis.

Functionally identical to the Stinger FS, the Stinger LS houses a variety of modules that are accessible from the front of the chassis. The Stinger LS Model 1 is designed to fit 19-inch racks in worldwide markets and supports up to 240 DSL ports. The Stinger LS Model 2 is designed to fit the 23-inch racks used primarily in U.S. markets and supports up to 336 ports.

  • Manages all traffic per ATM Forum Traffic Management 4.0 specifications

  • Supports multiple QoS levels making it possible to offer end users a diverse range of service level agreements (SLAs); premiums can be charged for the guaranteed levels of data rate and performance needed for demanding applications such as telephony, video-on-demand, and broadcast entertainment

Supports virtual colocation—through a shallow depth of 10 inches—where space may be at a premium

This functionality eliminates truck rolls by providing support for integrated internal copper loop testing and integrates with Loopcare and NavisAccess management

Offers DSL circuit configuration and turn up from the customer premises equipment (CPE) to the core of the network with Navis™ Provisioning Manager

  • Provides flexible configuration options to support a mixture of interfaces and digital subscriber line (DSL) types

  • Accommodates all types of data and real-time traffic, such as voice and video, with its ATM infrastructure

  • Expands via interconnected subtending (star or daisy-chained chassis units)

Provides Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)-based configuration, monitoring, and control of all network elements via NavisAccess™

Interoperability
Wired for DSL program tests and certifies interoperability with third-party DSL equipment, such as CPE and voice gateways, for greater flexibility and design options

Redundancy and Automatic Fail-Over


  • Redundant control modules and trunk ports (1:1)

  • Fully hot-swappable modules

  • Distributed power system with redundant line filters

  • Independent switching of failed ports (1:n)
